Chronicling Europe 2018 - We’re Nearly There…Copenhagen

My husband has joked for years that the sun never visits London. Surprise, surprise when we landed at Heathrow, the sun was already there. Being slightly familiar with this airport, we quickly got ourselves in place for the next leg of the journey.

Every single Dave Koz & Friends Cruises provides us with swag and other goodies that display the brand logo. Breezing through this airport is difficult to do without seeing fellow cruisers. This is pretty much our experience on each of the cruises we’ve taken with DK.

Our trips to Rome, Venice, and this year Copenhagen allowed us to bump into others from the states with the same itinerary. Most of us are in the same age group, but you’d think we were teens with all of the giddy looks of excitement.

Those who have traveled on these jazz immersed, international, educational, and totally ROCKIN’ cruises, simply know what’s ahead. And at this point in the airport…WE CAN’T WAIT!

Build Professional Skills – Test Prep Opportunities

If you’re pursuing a new career or field of interest, testing may be necessary. In some instances this is a matter of obtaining a certification. Those who need a particular license in order to practice in your area of expertise should consider testing.
Preparation for these tests is important for a number of reasons. The cost associated with taking a test one time could be high, not to mention re-taking a test. Being able to pass this type of test in one try is the best case scenario.
Just as with any other thing that interests you, practice is key. Companies that offer diverse exams for test preparation are beneficial to many students. They have the opportunity to prepare in advance for the final test, as well as, get a feel for what exams will be like.
It is possible to get practice tests for 350 specialties, which accommodate 60+ certifying bodies. This includes opportunities to prepare for ANCC, AANP and DANB testing.

How to Get What You Want from Work? - Job Satisfaction

I recently heard a story about an administrative worker who longed for more responsibility at work. This worker, of course, wanted to rise up the corporate ladder and earn more. Her primary objective, however, was to utilize the skills and expertise she'd gained over the years.

Because this worker had earned a good reputation at her office, she was able to get what she wanted. Speaking with one of the senior leaders, resulted in her being able to secure a new position. This position was a bit out of her current field, but it held greater responsibility and tasks. Not everyone will be able to experience this result because...

They don't showcase dependability

Dependability is a diverse area when it comes to workers. It is important to be on time for work and an active participant. At the same time, you show dependability by trying hard to meet company goals and objectives. Communicating well with supervisors is helpful, too.

They aren't team players

Team players are not simply people who follow the leader. They work cohesively with the team to achieve goals and objectives. This may mean working independently in some cases. Understanding initiatives, asking questions and completing projects effectively is essential.

They don't speak for themselves

Speaking for yourself is all about communicating well. This can be verbally or in written form. How do you express yourself? Professional examples are seen not simply through apparel. These individuals understand the company and its long term goals and missions.

It is important to be a GOOD worker no matter what your field or area of expertise.
Hiring officials and employers are looking not only for the brightest candidates. They want people who have committed to work and are trustworthy. This is the best way to get what you want out of your position or perhaps a new one.

Work Outside of the Box

In recent years there have been millions of job seekers deposited into the unemployment arena. Many of these people are those who have worked in the same industry for decades. Things were very different when they last had to look for work. Technology, for example, did not present so many options.

The internet itself is not simply a way to look for employment. It has become, in many instances, an employer for those ready for unique work opportunities. There are many different types of job options that are available online. It does take a bit of research to find out what’s out there. You will also need to apply flexibility to what you consider work to be. Let’s take a look at some of the earning options the internet presents.
Article Writing

Freelance writing is definitely one of the hidden opportunities that are available. There are many sites that connect writers with clients. Elance and oDesk are two examples in this category. Some clients are affiliated with magazines, websites and blogs. They are looking for someone to provide web content for their niche industry. Articles are used to steer traffic to sites or to sell products.

Blog Writing
There are a variety of different blogs on the internet. Some of these are related to companies, organizations and institutions. Blog owners don’t often have the time to produce current content. Blog writers come in and answer this particular need. Blogs are generally shorter than articles and tend to require posts of 350 to 400 words each.

Resume Writing
There are general freelance sites that provide resume writing services. You will also discover through searches specific sites only for resumes. These sites pay writers per resume and cover letter provides. This type of work is done based upon your own schedule and availability. The average fee for a resume is $20-$25 for the writer.

Customer Service
Small businesses often look for help as it relates to customer service. They are unable to pay a full-time salary but will outsource services. These jobs may require answering calls (routed to home phones), taking orders, making appointments and other clerical tasks. Some of the projects in this category are issued per contract. Contracts can last weekly, monthly or even longer.

Companies Take A Stand

Starbucks CEO, Howard Shultz decided to do something monumental this week. His company and 100 others have decided to withhold their campaign contributions until our nation’s budget is balanced. This is a heroic way to showcase what’s important. Many say that these companies and businesses are simply hitting politicians where it matters, in the wallet. Even if they are unsuccessful in impressing the point to these lawmakers, they have made a statement to their customers.

The stand that this group has made could lead the average person to take a similar stance. It is important to remember that the little people play a role where contributions are concerned. What if they all decided to keep their funds? This would be paramount to not only the presidential election, but Congress as well. The message that Starbucks has relayed is that good business isn’t the only important thing.

When companies stand together?
Some of the top companies in dining and retail have joined in this stand. Many of these are international brands within themselves. They have a persona to protect and to promote. It’s difficult to do so when the rest of the world is questioning our financial judgment as a country. You can look at this move as purely patriotic, or simply pro-active.

The bottom line
Every company has the goal of earning more profits. There are surely going to be financial benefits for the companies on this list of 100. They will attract the attention of new patrons in some cases. Regular citizens may even support more of these companies because of the message they’re sending to the world.
